Evaluation- Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In my opening sequence I tried to express the film genre I used through the editing, and sound track chosen (Thriller). The conventions of the thriller genre are to do with sound and editing. An example of this may be: quick cuts and camera angle changes, music that gives tension. It can be to do with lighting, especially the use of shadows; mirrors and stairs are also conventions of thriller movies.

Evaluation- Question 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our opening sequence is aimed at the following groups; Young adults aged 15-17 male and female. This is because the opening sequence will draw attention to young adults because of the things they are influenced by. Few common examples may be stress with family due to parent separation, getting bullied because of the religious background/race you come from, financial stress because you have to provide for a younger brother or sister etc…

Evaluation- Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I researched a few British film distribution, production companies. A few that I have found are: Vertigo Films, Distributor of London to Brighton, Bronson, The verve and Distributor of Red Road. I went on these companies’ websites and it is up to date and regularly updated. Vertigo Films would be the ideal company to distribute my opening sequence; this is because their target audience is aimed at people from 13-40 years which makes it convenient.

Evaluation- Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for my opening sequence would be people from the age range 15-17. This is because my film is based on a suicidal character going through a traumatic time which can relate to the age group that it’s aimed at. The film is aimed at both genders male and female. The location that I film in was a train station; this is because lots of suicides take place at train stations due to little security.

Evaluation- Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

The thing that attracted our audience was action suspense thrillers. Trying to make our film as realistic as possible was the aim, with all the recourses given. Also teenage years can be a real pain to get through and many teenagers feel suicidal. Making a film about a teenage suicidal character, could change the way a suicidal person feels. Making him/her know their death would do nothing but make people that are close to them feel sorrow.

Evaluation- Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have learnt many key words related to media that I never knew before and also know how to use the effectively. Also Youtube has been a great use of technology, this is because I had a chance to see many people’s media opening sequence and examine them for myself. The advantage of this and taking you time and you can see where they went wrong, and how you could correct the mistake.

Also my mobile device has helped me a lot to blog, blogger is the main application I needed to use so I could post, however at many times I didn’t have time to blog from a computer so I blogged from my phone and it was really easy and straight forward.

Evaluation- Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I think it was really convenient having the preliminary task, this is because I encountered a lot of problems filming and editing wise. However I had a lot of time to see where I went wrong and correct the issues I faced. The advantages was getting some type of experience on editing and filming before the actual opening task work; because I would defiantly encountered a bundle of problems, while doing so.
